to bassisnotafish... DO NOT Slam any guns. Whether it be assault weopons or not. It may be those that save your skin. We about to embark on a time when our guns will keep us safe no matter what it is. WE Need all guns. He does not have the right to take any gun away. if they take one away they will take them all. But why would you want one? unless A) you're insecure of your masculinity, B) You think it's just sooooooooo cooooool, and you want to show it off to all your friends, or C) you have dangerous plans for it...

taking away assault weapons means that law abiding citizens are at less of a risk of the non-law abiding citizens who abuse them. don't give me any of that "why should i be punished for what somone else did BS" you don't need an assault weapon, and should be glad that somone is looking out for your safety! (p.s. assault weapons are impractical for use in anything but manslaughter)

But just one comment.... if you think democrats want to take your guns better watch out because wheither you think so or not Democrats and Republicans agree on one issue: Guns.
Republicans may lie like Bush did to get his way on starting a war with Iraq, taxes on middle class when breaks to the richest americans, saying he was going to get Bin Laden and didn't... Yes they may lie, but the truth be told they have the same views on guns as democrats.
