`"CLASSIC COUNTRY MUSIC"

Here you find real Country music, the Pop and Rock music they call Country nowdays have nothing to do with Country.

I upload 1940/50s Hillbilly Bop, Hillbilly Boogie & Honky Tonk.
Only songs that is not on youtube alredy.

I always try to find photos and information about the singers and the year the song was released.

"Hillbilly Music The Roots Of Rockabilly"
The Hillbilly music, especially of the 40s and 50s are the roots of Rockabilly music. The closest you can come to Rockabilly before Elvis was the Hillbilly Boogie of the forties with the slapping upright bass and the electric boogie guitar. The Maddox Brothers amd Hank Williams uptempo songs are Pre-Rockabilly. In 1954 Elvis along with Scotty & Bill created a new sound that would later be called "Rockabilly". Bill Blacks slapping bass with Scotty Moores guitar licks and the vocals of Elvis. At this time both Scotty and Bill played in a Hillbilly band called "The Starlite Wranglers". They used the same instrumentation as most Hillbilly bands in the early 50s, steel guitar, fiddle, guitar and bass. But when they joined Elvis they only used Bass and two guitars. People dident know what to call their new uptempo music. So most people called the music "Boppin Hillbilly" or "Western Bebop" and Elvis was called "The Hillbilly Cat". Most people thought the music was closest to Country so Elvis began touring with Country stars like Hank Snow, Slim Witman and Charline Arthur. At Some times Elvis, Scotty & Bill even used a steel guitar, as you can hear on the early live takes from the Louisiana Hayride. When Elvis toured the south a lot of young Hillbilly singers changed their style to Rockabilly. Almost all Rockabilly singers started with Country music. But unfortunately the popularity of Rockabilly would be the death of real Country music. The nashville sound was invented in 1957 and Country music would newer be the same again. Meny Hillbilly singers like Don Gibson changed their style to more Pop. A few did like Jimmy Swan and continued to play pure hillbilly/country music until the late 1960s. But meny Country singers changed to Rockabilly. This was a music they could relate to, and close to the music they had played before. A example is Tommy Spurlin. In 1956 he dropped his fiddle and steel player and recorded one of the best Rockabilly records ever Hang Loose/One Eyed Sam with a upright bass and one electric guitar. Some of the best Rockabilly was recorded by Country singers like Skeets Mcdonald, George "Thumper" Jones, Buck "Corky Jones" Owens, Marty Robbins, Patsy Cline and meny more.
