High Plains Writers is a Rapid City, SD based writers group founded in 1998. The group promotes the power of the written word through sponsorship of an annual poetry contest as well as hosting events connected with the South Dakota Festival of the Book, the Rapid City Public Library and other partners. The group's focus is on craft and voice in writing, not necessarily publishing, but the dream is still alive.
