You can kill the merchant and get a katana called the Ushinaga, which looks almost identical to Sephiroth's. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS! YOU NEED THE MERCHANTS SUPPLIES! My m8 did this, then got to the wyvern and couldn't get anymore arrows :(
