Allen Hidalgo was last seen in Jersey Boys in Las Vegas. Prior to that, on Broadway as one of the stars of Hot Feet, the musical directed and choreographed by Maurice Hines; with the music of Earth Wind and Fire led by Maurice White and book by MTV book writer Heru Ptah.

Allens grandmother Maria used to say, "Nunca niega de donde uno viene, tu tiene una historia", which means "Never deny from where you came, you have a story to tell".

A Nuyourican is a person whose parents are Puerto Rican and is born in New York speaking Spanish. More accurately: Allens father is from Lima Peru and his mother was from Puerto Rico but having been raised by his mother, he always says "Im Puerto Rican in my heart 100%!!". His mother was a fairly successful singer and political activist. She sang with many Latino greats and also became an avid supporter of politicians such as Bella Abzug, Herman Badillo and Shirley Chisholm; in many cases, running aspects of their political campaigns or singing at their rallies.

Barely able to afford to eat at times, he managed to get through college. The musical stage always attracted him. The single most important reason was the day he was asked to sing. Out came a voice so powerful that it sent shivers up the spines of all within earshot. He is a force to be reckoned with. His life is a life built from one of the best schools one can ever hope to attend, the school of hard-knocks. Through it all his talent has remained a powerful, moving and unique experience for all who witness it.

After his first Broadway show, Cats, he landed the leading role in Fame, the Musical. Since then, he has held starring and leading roles in Starlight Express, West Side Story, A Chorus Line for which he was nominated by the Star Ledger for Best Featured Actor in addition to performing the role in Europe, Aint Misbehavin for which he won Best Actor in Florida, Four Guys Named Jose, the current revival of Chicago and The Mambo Kings where he portrayed Desi Arnaz. His most cherished time in the Broadway theatre was the honor of performing the role of Molina in Kiss of the Spiderwoman opposite the legendary Chita Rivera.

Allen has made several television and film appearances under the direction of Trevor Nunn, Hal Prince, Academy Award® winner Steven Spielberg and Academy Award® nominee Rob Marshall, among others. This Puerto Rican knows one thing and thats how to persevere and overcome obstacles. His career has been up and down, good and bad and sometimes really bad. Yet through it all, his hope has never waned. Allen Hidalgos story is one not readily seen in the Broadway community.

Allen Hidalgos life has led him through a path of profoundly diverse experiences. Its a true story of survival, a life that has been manifest against all odds. Each time he held on to his truth. His reason for not giving up? Thats easy.... "Nunca niega de donde uno viene, tu tiene un historia". "Never deny from where you came, you have a story to tell"!
