"Stop with the moping." Miley was the one to tease now. She and Liam had shown up at the closest Pancake shop to get some pancakes to realize that breakfast was officially over at 9:30. So, instead, they were going to get what she wanted; a blueberry bagel with crème cheese and a hazelnut coffee.
"If you hadn't had to take so long in the shower, we would've been able to make it." Liam glared at her. "You did this on purpose, so you could get your stupid bagel."
"If you behave, I'll buy a doughnut." Miley gently patted his arm as she got in line.
Liam sneered at her sarcastic answer. "I don't want a fucking doughnut, I want my pancakes."
Miley laughed. "Do you not realize how childish you're acting right now? Itt's like I'm babysitting an annoying 9 year-old kid."
"Just you watch, I'm going to show up at your house at 7 tomorrow." Yeah, that got her to stop smiling. He laughed on the inside at her annoyed expression. "Yeah, I thought so."
"Just go find us a table." Miley stood in line and turned her back to him.
"What a small world, again." Selena said from behind Miley.
Miley turned, surprised to see Nick, Selena, and Brandon. "Oh, hey . . . it is a small world." She cleared her throat. "Are you guys just grabbing breakfast?" She asked.
"Yeah, and then we're taking Brandon to the park." Nick answered. "Grabbing breakfast alone? You could've called us." He joked.
Selena laughed, but it sounded forced. "Actually, I think she has a date." She said with a nod toward the direction where Liam was. Both Miley and Nick turned to see Liam approaching them.
"I changed my mind. I want my doughnut back." Liam said to Miley, but then realized who else was there. "That wasn't supposed to sound like some kinky joke . . ."
Oh, my God. Miley thought mortified. Liam, just stop talking, she screamed to him in her mind. She glanced over at Nick, to see a tremor in his jaw twitch.
"Can we talk?" Selena and Nick asked Miley at the same time. They both glanced at one another and then away a second later.
"You first." Nick said as Miley and Selena walked away. Nick was left there with Brandon in his arms, staring at Miley's new boyfriend. That uneasy feeling in his stomach returned and he tried to keep his breathing even.
"Nick right?" Liam asked.
Nick's gaze narrowed right on him. So, he was a few inches shorter, but he was sure he could kick his ass. "Yeah." He cleared his throat, which also cleared his thoughts. "She's told you about me?"
"It's all she ever talks about." Liam said. "Excuse me," He said and turned toward the counter. He ordered Miley's bagel, coffee, and his doughnut and then nodded at Nick. He walked over to the other end of the counter for his order.

"I'm sorry." Selena said right off the back. She held up her hand just as Miley was going to speak. "I just wanted to get that out. I know I haven't replied back to any of your texts or calls and I know that I yelled at you that night Nick didn't come home . . ."
Miley nodded, trying to push aside the thought that Nick had actually stayed at her apartment and she had lied to Selena about it.
"I see that you've moved on now and this is horrible timing, but I want to give our friendship another try. We've had fights before and God, Miley; we've been friends since high school. I don't want to let this get in the way of our friendship."
Miley was honestly taken aback . . . that Selena was the one who was apologizing to her. After she was the one who screwed around with her best friend's husband and lost all of her trust. She shook her head, not able to handle this. "You shouldn't be apologizing to me, after all that I've done."
"I decided to be the bigger person and put it behind me, Miles." Selena smiled, but it was still a little forced.
Miles. That one struck a nerve. "You haven't called me that in months." Miley whispered.
Selena's smile faltered a little, but she nodded. "Can we be friends again, Miles? I know it was awkward running into each other at Victoria's Secret, but I've been meaning to call you and meet up. I guess it was fate how we ran into each other today. Please forgive me."
Miley shook her head.
