WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF BI-POLAR?

Bi-polar causes dramatic mood swings- from overly "high" and/or irritable to sad and hopeless, then back again, often with normal mood in between. Severe changes in energy and behavior go along with these changes in mood. The periods of "highs" and "lows" are called episodes of mania and depression. Sometimes severe episodes of mania or depression sytomps of psychosis(or psychotic symptoms). Common psychotic symptoms are hallucinations(hearing or seeing things not there) or delusions(false, strongly held beliefs not influenced by logical reasoning or explained by persons unusual culture concepts). Psychotic symptoms in bi-polar disorder tend to reflect the extreme mood state at time. For example delusion of grandiosity, suh as believing that one is the only one with the truth and is the "truthbrigade" may occur during mania; delusions of being ganged stalked or believing one has been poisoned and left mangled, ruined and penniless needing peoples pity and donations to make it, may occur during depression. People with bi-polar are sometimes misdiagnosed as schizophrenia due such psychotic behavior and delusions.
