Hellions of Troy - Intraleague Natural Disaster Bout - Team Hurricane vs. Team Earthquake
On Saturday, August 27, the Hellions played an intraleague bout after original plans to play a visiting team @ Rollarama were canceled due to Hurricane Irene. HoT pulled together two intraleague teams (with help from 5 other local derby players) in a matter of hours and the concept of "Team Hurricane" vs. "Team Earthquake" was born (the East Coast also encountered an earthquake earlier in the week on Tuesday 8/23).
This bout was also the debut for new Hellions coach, Roarshock, who lead Team Earthquake against Doc Bi O'Hazard, coaching Team Hurricane. It was also the first bout for Hellions skater Damsel in Detest, and just the second bout for Haidee Hellhound and Sick Puppy.
Team Hurricane took an early lead due to a couple opportune power jams. Because it was two teams from the same league, both teams recognized the strategies of the other. Team Hurricane kept the packs fast, but Team Earthquake kept up for the most part.
During the second half, Team Earthquake was able close the point gap by focusing on their strategies, but the game ended with Team Hurricane up by 20 points at the second to last jam. After calling a time out to squeeze in one more jam, Kitty P of the Hurricanes achieved lead jammer status, and called off the jam to secure the Hurricane's victory.

H.o.T.R.D. Vs Brick City Bruisers
Hellions of Troy vs. Garden State Roller Derby
On Saturday, August 6, the Hellions of Troy hosted Garden State Roller Derbys
Brick City Bruisers at Rollarama in Schenectady. Having scored a win against GSRD down in New Jersey back in May (183 HoT - 72 GSR), the two teams were looking forward to a rematch.
It was a fierce battle on both sides. Ultimately the Hellions' strong teamwork, wall building and strategy allowed them to take a strong lead that was maintained throughout the bout. Garden State did not give in easy and fought every inch of the way.
MVP's were Kitty Porn (HoT) and Renegade Ruby (GSRD)
Heavy Hitter awards were given to Flexi Wheeler (HoT) and Angry Beaver (GSRD)
