About Havenlibrary
"Violence abounds, both at the micro and macro level. In relationships, and in communities and countries around the world, people are living out violence and naming it anger.
This is evident in the blatant, abhorrent behaviors that are intended to be retaliative, to do harm, and to control. In this violence people are turned into labels, roles and objects, and contact with the person is lost.
An enemy is created. Paranoia grows, and our humanity suffers an erosion at the level of the soul. Ultimately we distance from our evolutionary energy of human connection. And in this disconnection we experience an acute, pervasive loneliness and isolation."

About this user
I am a television Producer / Director. I became interested in Dr. Joann Peterson's work after taking an Anger, Boundaries and Safety course at The Haven Institute in 2004. My family has a history of "being nice", stuffing things down and then having huge blowouts. The net result is nobody talks anymore, and we all live with sorrow and regret.
As a new father, I wanted my children to experience something different. I also wanted to help others to prevent the kinds of headlines we read about every day, ranging from: murder, abuse, roadrage, bullying, elder abuse and divorce.
What I learned from Dr. Peterson is that, although those more direct examples of violence make headlines, the much more prevalent and insidious examples are far more common. And, that the consequences of not expressing negative feelings doesn't make you a "better person", because they invariably become internalized and make you sick, or leak out in passive and sneaky ways.
I'm very proud of The Anger Toolbox - A Blueprint for Responsible Anger, Boundaries & Safety (90 minutes) and the full length, 13-Part Series we've created (available at www.kineticvideo.com).
It's amazing to see how expressing our negative feelings and emotions, in a responsible way, can actually increase understanding and intimacy. Who knew!?
