About HarmonicsExplorer
Playing harmonics on an Explorer guitar. It's an Epiphone korina with a Gibson '57 pickup in the bridge position. Edge's Explorer is a 1976 Natural Mahogany Gibson Explorer, which has two, at least originally, front guitar strap holders, one on the front profile, and one on the front backside.
Basic gear for early Edge sound without getting 'too spendy': Vox AD50VT amp set to AC30 top boost setting, mid-range knob full on, Electro Harmonix Memory Man Deluxe Delay-Chorus effects box, Gibson '57 humbucker pickup in bridge position of an Epiphone Explorer guitar, Dunlop 1mm raised graphics pick (black) played sideways, wide-end forward. And for a more studio-ey sound such as for A Day Without Me, use a Zoom1010 multi-effects unit, and, Boss Super Phaser pedal. For tuning the guitar, I like to use a clip-on tuner that you put on the head stock, and take off when you play, - that way you get the 'purest' signal, - only amp and effects.
And lastly, for the authentic look, I have the same sort of knobs and switch as on Edge's. Additionally, in the case of this guitar, the Epiphone logo is cosmetically concealed by a custom glaze job on the headstock, in addition to a Gibson truss rod cover that was specially fitted with the nut at the headstock.
And, the guitar, amp, and EHMMD are now sold and gone. I'm using other equipment now.
