This is Haku-Tsuru Kenpo (White-Crane Fist-Method). Haku-Tsuru is a sub-system of Awase-Kenpo Karate-Do (Combined Fist-Method Way of the Empty-Hand). Awase-Kenpo is a style of Martial arts with origins stemming from three major systems; Shorin-Ryu Karate-Do, Aiki-Jujitsu and Chinese-Hawaiian Kenpo. Within the Chinese-Hawaiian Kenpo (roots in Chuan-Fa) there are seven animal Forms; Tiger, Crane, Monkey, Eagle, Scorpion, Leopard and Snake. Within the Awase-Kenpo System, techniques based on each of these animal-Forms may be found but none of which could be defined as a whole System...until now. After attaining Go-Dan (5th) Degree ranking in the Awase-Kenpo System I have been charged under the direction of Soke Herschel L. Schenck (Awase-Kenpo's Grand Master) to flesh out the White-Crane System. My task was to develop a curriculum of techniques from White-Belt through Shodan Black-Belt based not only on refining Crane techniques found within the Awase-Kenpo System, but also on outside sources as well. After seven years of research and development, I have presented my work to Soke Schenck. The curriculum was approved on March 27th, 2008, and admitted into the Awase-Kenpo Kai as the first animal Sub-System of Awase-Kenpo karate-Do now known as Haku-Tsuru Kenpo. I was awarded Roku-Dan (6th degree) ranking for my efforts and granted Chuden (Apprentice) level of Grand Master with the title of Soke-Dai. This is only the beginning of Haku-Tsuru Kenpo, however for I feel that what I accomplished was but the foundation or building blocks of this fledgling system. I am continuing to refine my work and am ever hungry for more Knowledge.
