Barry Haines is currently a member of Stamford's Economic Development Commission, the League of Women Voters of Connecticut, and the NAACP- Stamford Branch's executive committee. He was also previously the Treasurer for the Stamford Republican Town Committee. Along with prior volunteer work for the Yerwood Center and the United Way of Stamford, he has served as a volunteer for his employer, Gen Re, to help Kids in Crisis, Americares, St. Luke's LifeWorks, and the Family and Children's Agency. He is a Treaty Pricing Analyst for Gen Re and has been employed there for fourteen years. He has worked in the reinsurance industry for seventeen years, mostly in Stamford. He also worked for eighteen months as an ex-pat for Gen Re in Brazil.
Barry grew up in Sacramento, California and graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz with majors in both economics (with honors) and mathematics. At UCSC's Oakes College, he was the chair of the student government, editor of the yearbook, and neighborhood assistant within the dormitories. During his senior year at Sacramento's El Camino Fundamental High School, he was the MVP of the varsity baseball team.
Barry and his wife, Maria, have two children, Pablo and Adam.
Barry Haines will (1) work to hold the line on taxes in Connecticut and work towards a better allocation of funds already being collected, (2) make job creation a focus through reduced taxes and less intrusive, better regulations, and (3) support traditional Connecticut values.
The people of Stamford and Darien deserve better and in 2010 they will get better.

Like the majority of Americans, Barry Haines is pro-life. Barry also agrees with Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and John Kerry that marriage is between one man and one woman.
