I enjoyed Ted Greene more than any solo guitar I ever heard. Unfortunately, he was alive for only one solo recording. His book "Chord Chemistry" is a classic.

Someone said the 7-string was tuned to "A" below the 5th string. .It is actually tuned to "A" beblow the 6th string. The fifth string IS tuned to "A" just an octave above the 7th string, also "A".

Needless to say, Stitt & Johnson are great. I really enjoyed Howard McGhee's tpt. solo. I have this footage on a DVD called "We Remember Bird". Walter Bishop is on piano, Tommy Potter on Bass, & the great Kenny Clarke on drums.

Lenny Breau began by playing in his family's country band. Like Ted Greene, & Joe Pass, he bis among the geniuses of virtuoso guitar. But he was a victim of heroin addiction & it killed him.Chet Atkins & Tal Farlow did everything they could for him, but to no avail.

No one could play virtuoso guitar like Ted Greene. One must be very careful never to say that this or that guitarist is the "best" They all have their own voice. I would like this vide except that the sound is so fucked up. These are two great guitarists, & they deserve much better than nthis.

This looks like the French Quarter in New Orleans, but I could be wrong. I have every tune they ever recorded.

I must say that although Chets' singing is not usuall ny bag, hi s work on this tune was excellent. He sang the same way he played. The piano player wasn't Bill Evans by any chance, was it?
