Director's notes
There were three aspects that I focused on while working on this trailer. First, I wanted the trailer to be very fast paced so that people would feel like they needed to watch the trailer a few times in order to find all the little graphic details and clues.

Since the animation involves simple, geometrical shapes I was concerned that the it may turn out to be too linear so I also decided to play with scale and to make the size of objects in the animation inconsistent. For example the main character is about the size of a human head at the beginning but later turns out to be as big as a house.

Lastly, I wanted the animation to have a circular pattern so that it would start and end with the main character falling off the stairways.

Motomichi Nakamura was born in Tokyo, Japan and graduated from Parsons School of Design. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
Minimum use of color (black, white and red) as well as a focus on the creation of characters and creatures using simple graphic elements characterizes Motomichis work visually across digital and traditional media. The subjects in his work often reflect conflictive characteristics, for instance they can be frightening and humorous, or part human and part monsters.

His digital animation work has been exhibited at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in NYC, Oscar Niemeyer Museum in Brazil and has appeared in Sundance, Res Fest and Onedotzero.
He has performed his live video/animation mix at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, the Edinburgh International FIlm Festival, Moscow Contemporary Art Center and at other recognized venues in the U.S. and abroad.
Clients include MTV, VH1, USA Networks, Microsoft, EA, Sony and Pocari Sweat. He has also produced music videos for The Knife and Otto Von Schirach.
