Gwildor are a 6-piece indie/folk/acoustic band from Wrexham, north Wales. They released their 'Shattered Fragments' EP through Nottingham based Folkwit Records in 2005. They will be releasing their debut album through Folkwit in 2007. Their influences include Belle and Sebastian, Leonard Cohen, The Beach Boys, and the west Wales coast.
Gwildor played a gig for Bethan and Huw's BBC Radio One (in Wales) show with extracts broadcast on 29th Feb 2007. Huw Stephens has also rather kindly played 'You just lost your way' on his Radio One show.
Steve Lamacq's BBC Radio One show 'In new music we trust' featured on March 5th 2007 an interview with Gwildor for 'My Scene'. 'You just lost your way' was also played during the interview conducted by Bethan Elfyn at the aforementioned gig.
They were recently described by Adam Walton (who has played seven of their tracks on BBC Radio Wales) as: "one of my favourite Welsh bands" and by BBC Radio One's Bethan Elfyn as "meandering folk loveliness".
The band have also received airplay from Bethan and Huw (BBC Radio One session in Wales) in 2006-2007.
Previously Gwildor have supported such luminaries as James Yorkston, King Creosote, and Richard James (Gorky's).
Gwildor have played numerous gigs in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Nottingham, Wolverhampton, and they also headlined the acoustic stage at the 2006 Grassroots Festival in Stamford.
Gwildor are looking to play some of the more 'chilled' festivals in 2007 and have confirmed a slot at this years Green Man festival. (www.myspace.com/gwildor)
