To concur with your findings ---- My Rocktron Velocity 300 blows away my Mesa 20/20 power amp. The Mesa is one unit rack tall - but way too DEEP for most racks. It's louder that I will EVER need, but, as you too have found,the Rocktron Velocity 300 is a lot smoother on the ears than the Mesa.
