About Me:
VINYL:
In terms of vinyl, most of what I buy nowadays is fifties and sixties jazz and audiophile pressings. I've been a vinyl record collector since my late teens when I really caught the bug and lost count at about 8,000 vinyl records almost a decade ago yet the collection grows from five to ten LPs per week!
BOOKS & PHOTOGRAPHY & COMICS:
I'm an avid reader with a collection of several thousand hardcover books, a photography buff with a gazillion cameras and lenses with a keen interest in the East German and Russian stuff from the Cold War and a horror and science fiction comic book fan as well.
STEREO:
I also have an enormous collection of vintage amplifiers, turntables and speakers.
FILMS & CLASSIC TELEVISION:
I'm also a film buff, especially of foreign films and I enjoy classic television programs from the fifties, sixties and seventies as well.
AIRCRAFT:
As far back as I can remember, I've always been a keen aircraft enthusiast. The Mynarski Memorial Avro Lancaster, one of two flying Lancasters left in the world, flys over my home twice every summer!
COOKING:
A few years ago I caught the gourmet bug as well and most of what I research on YouTube is...recipes!
VIDEO GAMING: One of my more recent addictions are vintage 8-bit game consoles like the Atari 2600, ColecoVision, Mattel Intellivision, Nintendo NES as well as more recent gaming consoles such as Sega Genesis, Nintendo SNES and even Nintendo N64. I'm not quite "Frisbee" from the film "Spun" yet...
CATS:
I enjoy being in the company of cats. My wife and I are owned by two geriatric cats - Thomasina and Julia.
Hometown:
Mississauga
Country:
Canada
Interests:
vinyl records, vintage stereo gear, horror and science fiction comic books, cooking, aircraft, older video game consoles, anglopenia, collecting hardcover books, photography, and cats.
Movies:
I'm still trying to understand this really bizarre Hungarian film I saw recently called "Taxidermia" which made "Eraserhead" look normal. Another recent fave is an overlooked Danny Boyle-directed film called "Vacuuming Completely Nude in Paradise" which will give you a bird's eye view of Manchester, England.
Music:
Lots of jazz actually. Lately a lot of Wes Montgomery, Sonny Stitt, Bud Powell, Bill Evans...and I'm rediscovering all the classic rock records through audiophile pressings.
Books:
currently enjoying "Creepy" and "Eerie" Archives published by Dark Horse Comics which reprint, ever so beautifully, those amazing Warren horror and science fiction comics from the mid-sixties to the early seventies. Art by Wally Wood, Eugene Colan, Frazetta, Rocco Mastroserio, Berni Wrightson et al. Fantastic stuff indeed!
