Brush Gods:

Shiranui/Amaterasu: Great Mother that is good to us all, she is the Goddess of the Sun. Sunrise is our brush Technique. We bring light to the world.
Bakugami: God of explosive force. Secret Brush Technique Triple Cherry Bomb.
Gekigami: God of onslaught and Thunder. Secret Brush Technique, Thunderbolt.
Itegami: God of blizzard. Secret Brush Technique Blizzard.
Kabegami: Catwalk god, allows the user to walk on walls only if there is a Kabegami Statue nearby.
Kasugami: God of Mist, Allows the user to freeze time for a short few moments. Fog Pot,
allows user to warp anywhere from a save mirror.
Kazegami: God of the Winds, allows user to use the wind. Secret Brush Technique Whirlwind.
Moegami: God of Fire. Allows user to use fire on enemies and Ice. Secret Brush Technique Fireburst. User must draw the ∞ to use Fireburst.
Nuregami: God of water. Waterspout It is used to erupt geysers. has two Secret Brush Techniques, one is downpour and the other allows user to teleport Mermaid springs.
Tachigami: God of rendering, allows user to slash at their enemies and other items. There are two secret brush techniques that allow the user to slash threw Iron rocks and Crystal Rocks

The Hanagami are a trio of monkeys that teach three flora-based brush techniques.
Sakigami: The first Flora God. God of bloom, needed to revive the Guardian Saplings to vanish Orochi's curse. Also used in battle against Bud ogres when they are vulnerable.
Hasugami: The second Flora God. God of lily pad, allows user to draw a circle in water and it will turn into a lily pad that is safe to get on.
Tsutagami: Last of the Flora Gods. God of Vines, This allows the user to draw a line from any open Konohana Blossom to themselves, a vine will then pull them towards the flower.

Yomigami: God of Rejuvination. Meaning that by drawing over a broken or missing object, it can be replaced.
Yumigami: God of the moon. Allows user to draw the moon in the sky and change the day to night.

Shiranui (White-wild Majesty) is the historical hero of Kamiki Village from one hundred years ago, as Amaterasu's previous incarnation at full power and wielding the "Solar Flare" Reflector. Shiranui is usually written 不知火, translating to 'Unknown fire', a Japanese term given to the optical or supernatural phenomenon similar to will-o'-the-wisp. According to the legend, when the ceremony to sacrifice a maiden to Orochi drew near, a white wolf kept roaming around the village at night and was named "Shiranui" possibly for its beautiful white fur coat. Believing Shiranui to be a familiar of Orochi, a man named Nagi always attempted to challenge it but Shiranui would use his amazingly swift movements to escape from him.
On the night of the festival, Nagi disguised himself as the chosen sacrificial maiden, his beloved Nami, to approach and slay the eight-headed beast Orochi. However, his attempts were in vain because of Orochi's steel-hard hide, and Nagi was brutally injured. At the last minute, Shiranui arrived and stepped up to Orochi in a one-on-one fight to the death.
After hours of fighting, Shiranui received many wounds and was about to lose the battle. Then, when the final blow was about to be struck, he lifted up his head and howled, summoning the moon which gave Nagi new strength that helped him defeat and seal Orochi. Even though the battle was won, it came at a price. Shiranui had been poisoned by Orochi's deadly claws during the fight and was slowly but surely dying. Nagi carried Shiranui back to the village where he quietly passed away. The villagers built a shrine on Shiranui's resting grounds in honor for his brave deeds.

Shiranui, sensing trouble for his future self, travels through the Spirit Gate into the future where he assists Amaterasu in combating Nechku. After defeating the Demon, Oki appears (fighting with Lechku). When Oki's passion drives him to try a desperate attack to end Lechku's life, the Demon used its power to stop time and deliver a devastating blow to Oki. However, Shiranui was able to overcome the time freeze and knocked Oki out of the way and took the full brunt of the attack in Oki's stead. After Amaterasu and Oki defeat Lechku and Nechku, Shiranui travels back in time to the battle with True Orochi.
It is not completely explained how all of this works out with the legend of Orochi. Some have guessed that the Spirit Gate merely created an alternate dimension of 100 years ago, and recreated the battle with Orochi inside it. Another situation: Past Amaterasu had arrived in time to save Izanagi from being killed. Then, he traveled to the future to aide in that time, but was critically injured saving Okikurumi. he then returned to the past to pass away and wait to be revived by Sakuya.
