The Great Big Paddle is the latest adventure project for British chap Dave Cornthwaite, who is paddling 9000 miles in two years to raise funds for the AV Foundation, and along the way he hopes to actively encourage and inspire people young and old (and middle-aged) to take up a sporting hobby and care for the environments in which they play, train and explore.

The Great Big Paddle's three main events are a 2009 kayak paddle along the length of Australia's longest river, The Murray. Then, a 3000 mile Stand Up Paddle expedition from the UK to Northern Africa between July and November 2010, before a 2011 paddle expedition along the Amazon, which we hear is quite a big river.

Dave first expedition begins on October 4th 2009, when he begins to trace Australia's longest river, The Murray, from source to sea. Watch all the videos from the Great Big Paddle right here...
