You are right, the most important about Culure Club + Boy George IS the music + the immortal melodies !
I didn´t like "Do you you really want to hurt me?" so much when it was published - because - as you might see in my channel´s playlists - i´ve always been into lots of different music. But then in spring 1983 - i was living in Berlin at that time - i heard Culture Club live on BFBS - the broadcasting station for British soldiers in Germany at that time (still exists !). I was so impressed of their ability to play - especially when they drifted into 60s soul: Tamla motown sound stuff ! And George has a great soul voice, a bit reminding of Smokey Robinson + other soul artists - "Church of the Poison Mind" IS a tribute to Smokey Robinson ! I always loved Culture Clubs´s mixture of rock, soul + even a bit of jazz.
