metal bands that fail:
suicide silence, limp bizkit, dragonforce, bring me the horizon, cannibal corpse (their lyrics suck), carcass (their lyrics suck too), whitechapel, job for a cowboy, underoath, the devil wears prada, attack attack, torso fuck, amputated, spermswamp,
and anything pornocore.

metal bands in between failure and greatness: slipknot, bullet for my valentine, korn, as i lay dying, escape the fate (some of their songs are okay, some of them suck...really bad).

for the record, shawn lane and buckethead are always switching positions on my list. who is number 1 is who is impresses me more at the moment. i either choose buckethead's diversity and creativity or shawn lane's superior to all technique, "blazing amazing phrasing" as paul gilbert puts it, sense of melody, and improv ability.

5 reasons why metal is the best genre of music:

1. lyrics: there aren't any other genres that are as diverse in lyrics. there isn't a single lyrical theme that metal isn't capable of doing. no other genre is capable of that.

2. diversity: no other genre has as many genres and subgenres. there are literally around 100 if not more, each of them being different.

3. live performances: the live performances in metal are far more intense than any other genre.

4. it never dies: there is always something more to do with metal so nobody ever stops listening because it always evolves and has the ability to appeal to anybody if they truly look into the genre.

5. the guitar solos: metal has the best guitar solos, period. they are quick, energetic, tasteful, and powerful. good solos are more abundant in metal than any other genre.
