this is my favourite solo of all time. Not the most technically brilliant, but it's just so musical. The way that it contrasts with Murray's chaotic one just makes it even more special.

First you pay back the company that has risked a lot of time and money in promoting you, THEN you can seek to fulfill your artistic dreams...

@moewishaw Amen to that. While I like some Morrissey songs, they lack the incredibly delicate instrument interplay which only the Smiths can offer.

I think I prefer the other recording of this song, but I think that's 'cause I heard that one first. I miss the quicker tempo and more colourful reverb

If you actually paid attention to the songs you'd see that most Maiden lyrics carry the message "beware the evil that hunts you" or stuff to that effect. A lot of them are based on historic epics etc. as well, e.g. the Trooper and Mariner.
