From Glenn Gould's legacy has sprung The Glenn Gould Foundation, which was established in Toronto in 1983. Its mission is to extend awareness of Glenn Gould as an extraordinary musician and communicator, and to advance his innovative ideas into the future.

The Foundation's earliest projects included the creation of the Glenn Gould Prize in Music and Communication. To this was added the City of Toronto-Glenn Gould International Protégé Prize, which is given to an outstanding individual, selected by the Prize Laureate, who shows the promise in his/her career that was similarly shown by the young Glenn Gould. 2007 marks the 75th anniversary of Glenn Gould's birth and the 25th anniversary of his death.
