It was long ago that I saw the truth and the light. However, the light was dark, And the truth was false. Even worse, it wasn't really that long ago. Furthermore, I saw the danger of my knowledge And I wept, For I knew my time had come...and gone. There was nothing left to do but live. You can only live so long until you become bored with life itself. When that happens, you long for what most fear. Because I have not fulfilled my purpose in life, I will not be allowed the completion of death. The most painful part of this curse is watching those closest to you wither away and die, while you remain unaged and unwithered. You would think my condition would not allow me to love. Unfortunately, that is part of the curse. They say, "'tis better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all." I am the living antithesis of that statement. For I have loved for eons, and have lost millions. My memory being as endless as my life, I will never forget any of them. Mortals have children to feel eternal. To pass on a part of themselves forever. I am unable to do so, for I am eternal...I am forever. I am constantly haunted of the past, while dreading the future. My only contentment is the present. Not knowing what lies ahead is my only peace. The miracles I've witnessed throughout time are only drowned by the horrors I've seen. With no power to change the past, and no ability to control the future. I've heard most people beg and plead for their lives. I can only envy them, for their time is closest. I hear many others dream and wish for what they call my "gift." How I would gladly grant their wish. I would trade places with ANY mortal on Earth. To wander about with no destiny is as helpless as having a mission, with no means to fulfill it. With no end in sight, There is nothing... Absolutely Nothing to look forward to. I may be in the company of many dear friends, however I remain the lonliest being on the planet. So I will go on living, and I will continue to search for the cause and reason that made me what I am. Until the time comes that I can redeem myself and earn that which mortals take for granted.
