The next year we sang the St. John and St. Matthew passions and the B Minor Mass - all in one week and two weekends. It was the 300th celebration of Bach (1685-1750). We then went to L.A. and performed the St. Matthew and the B Minor Mass in the Hollywood Bowl. Unforgettable.

I was fortunate enough to sing in this choir in '84 and '85. This performance (and the other four canatas we sang that week) was rehearsed and performed in one day. We also did the Christmas Oratorio and the motet Singet dem Herren that week. I will always cherish that experience. Rilling is a ge...
