Among the greatest songs of all by the Carpenters. But this was Karen singing in 1972 or so, not in 1980. It is a lip synch. She is looking a bit better than she did a year or two later.

What an awful opening by Elvis. This is not his song. Wheel him away. Karen sounds better in the chorus with her own verse - and without that awful double tracking in the Chorus

Great interview with a well-reasoned explanation from Pat about his new recording. Funny thing, but songs like "And I Love Her" and "Cherish" are also personal favourites of mine for similar reasons to those expressed here. But then I am a musician too - although not professional like Pat.

This is a very nice performance indeed of a favourite of mine. Its a classic, if not a standard. Nicely controlled guitar and the intricate harmonies at the end most convincing.

Oh the strain on that voice! Come back Karen now! Richard and orchestra can do little to save this one - the lead vocals must be under good control. You can't take to this lovely Leon Russell with a sledgehammer approach. And a shame about the pitch. Strange gurglings in backing vocals too?...

Does not sound like Karen's voice in this song. Much harder quality altogether. Not exactly a romantic feel for this ballad. We need more flow on the vocal. This is too speech like for me. Pretty distinctive though. She needs to sort the breathing out to get through those phrases!
