This RULES!! :p Sooo, yalla, lets get to the nitty gritty of the matter. What exactly is Gedu1988? Well, Gedu was what I called my beautiful grandfather, Hassan El-Sheikh, the term hailing, along with him and his daughter, my beautiful mother Cherine Bahlo, from Egypt. And 1988 was the year I was born. Best year ;) So, ya, what's this new project for? Wallah, it's for everything - any little thing I do, useful and stupid and awful and awesome with any one of my amazing friends who loves useful/stupid/awful/awesome shit as much as me! I belong to a few great bands, such as the Heartbeat Generation with Thazi Wisudha-Edwards, Christopher and Jonny Mortemore (and more friends/artists besides), The Reveals with Adam Rogers and Tom Davey and A Picture Of A Boat with Daisy Bowman. These are incredible projects I have a lot of long-term faith in and want to work very hard to make as good as they can be. Gedu, on the other hand, will be a sort of side-project solo-knock-off gamble project. When I'm done trying to throw sixes and just chuck the dice off the roof, along with the baby and the bathwater. This is a medical prescription for my spare time. For, as David Foster Wallace, one of my favourite writers, said...we all end up worshipping something or other. So we need to protect ourselves from worshipping things like greed, self-regard, surface-beauty and money. And I'm protecting my spare time, my off-the-clock empire, by choosing to use it to worship creativity. Collaboration and self expression. Building something and anything out of the nothing and everything we all seperately live in and belong inside in chaotic union. I want to concentrate. Here, I will continue this project. Wherever I am in space or time, I want to be myself through and through. I want to try. Better and deeper. To know myself and others - with no concrete end point in mind, besides as a mystical motivator. To explore process, endlessly and innovatively. As Doris Lessing said, writers are merely earthworms..making more earth out of earth. Let's do this thing. Hop on board the Gedu1988...especially if you like adventure and halloween music....and don't have a ticket ;) Jffx
