I personally don't like R/S/E because most the pokemon are water type, and the reliance on HM moves is almost jaw dropping, but mainly I hear hate for Gold and Silver for not adding enough pokemon that are useful. (Baby pokemon being added was sort of brushed off as more annoying then innovative)...
