G4C13: Amplify Learning games presentation Play

As a major part of its effort to reinvent elementary and secondary school curriculum, Amplify has introduced an ambitious portfolio of digital games, including for English Language Arts and STEM. The games are being conceptualized and developed by leading independent game designers as well as veterans of top commercial game studios. For the first time, these designers, from across the U.S. and the U.K., are gathering to discuss this work and share what they have done so far.

G4C13: Half the Sky Spotlight Play

Half the Sky Movement: the Game is the latest installment of the landmark transmedia project, which includes the #1 NYT best-selling book and a critically acclaimed primetime PBS series.

Over the three years of fundraising and production, Games for Change built relationships with 7 of the world's leading NGOs on women and girl issues that became the direct beneficiaries of the game. Frima Studio, an award-winning Facebook developer, was selected to build the game. With a line-up of blue chip funders and the active support of Zynga.org and Facebook, Games for Change orchestrated one of the most visible and talked about game launches in the space of games for good.

In this special spotlight, world experts from Zynga, Frima Studio, NGO's and foundations that partnered on the project will openly share what worked well and what didn't and some of the main findings three months after the launch of the game. We will cover a range of areas, such as game design, content expertise, marketing, distribution testing and analytics.

G4C13: Sex Etc. Game Design Competition Award Play

In Games for Change's first-ever public design competition, we awarded a $35,000 to create a prototype of a safe sex awareness game. The winners, selected on-stage at the 10th Anniversary Games for Change Festival, will developed this game prototype for and in collaboration with Answer, a progressive, tech-savvy organization that has more than 30 years experience providing and promoting sexuality awareness to young people.

Three finalists presented at the Games for Change Festival, with Safe Sex With Friends taking home the grand prize. Congrats to designers Kaho Abe, Ramsey Nasser, and Sarah Schoemann.
