Since 1992 Galleria Emi Fontanta has functioned as an intensely programmed international exhibition space in Milan.
For the first years the gallery showed just women artists, a challenging decision at that time in Italy.
The gallery soon became known throughout Europe for its unique program, which is mostly dedicated to artists of international fame who deal with issues of identity politics and institutional critique.
From group exhibitions to one-person shows, the gallery has consistently sought to
present new challenging works. Galleria Emi Fontana represents artists that works
with a great variety of media such as installation, video, sculpture, photography,
pursuing a research that often puts in relationship elements of the mainstream culture with
elements of the underground and popular culture.
