In this world of sound-alike singers its always refreshing to hear The Carpenters music because it was their own sound, no one could replicate it...and no one can to this day...awesome!!

I love this song, especially Brian just after the first chorus at 1:08...but it is also a prime example of an over produced, multiple tracked 1980's drum tracked song. Still...its the BB and it sounds great!

This album was the one that I feel brought the Beach Boys out of the strangeness of the 70's...it is for the most part a full, rich sounding album...Lady Lynda, Good Timin'..this tune...good stuff...

I have this on a 45..."The Beach Boys Medley" b/w "Lady Liberty" was done, in my opinion to hop on the popular "Stars On 45" style of medley tunes at the time...and good thinking as all of those medleys (minus this one) were done by sound alike bands.

I love how he takes it up an octave and then sings "come about hard..."

I like both versions, although for me, this was the first 45 I bought as a youngster, so I heard this one first so it always has a special place in my musical listening history...thanks for posting!

I bought this 45 back in '79 thinking it was the Buggles version (I was 11 at the time) and I remember at first being disappointed, but the BWCC version grew on me and it sounds good here, although this is a different mix than whats on the 45

I bought this song as a 45 and sat down and listened to it writing down every sound Leroy made and learned the lyrics...I still have fun singing this song some 30 years later!

This song is multi-purpose! Not only Mothers Day Song, but a song about your wife, your girl, about God, theres alot of ways to look at it...but I do love the video...and miss Steve...
