Visit this channel throughout July as we document the progress of the Gindler Barn repair and reconstruction at the Willoughby Heritage Farm and Conservation Reserve in Collinsville, Illinois. The event is sponsored by the Collinsville Area Recreation District (CARD) with construction oversight provided by Trillium Dell Timberworks, Knoxville, Illinois. Additional help is provided through the Timber Framers Guild of Becket, Massachusetts, and dozens of community volunteers. The Gindler barn is a pre-Civil War hewn oak barn with a roof system of white pine dating from the 1870s. The barn is approximately 36' x 85' with 12' side walls and a gable roof. The barn was dismantled last Fall and moved to Willoughby Farm - a living history site owned by the Collinsville Area Recreation District.
