Ego was one of my favorite albums and I used to play it on the air at WRPI in Troy NY. This is still incredible polyrhythmic stuff with master drummers. Only thing missing is Ron. His bass line made this tune. The ORIGINAL ACID JAZZ.

You can't compare Coleman and Shorter. They are 2 different players with different approaches. Coleman is a very lyrical and melodic chord change player who at this time was very inside harmonically. Simply beautiful. Shorter's approach was more thematic and less chord change outlining. Wayne is ...
