For single pillar type taps have a look at the Easytapsplitter, prevents the tap spinning in its fixing hole when lots of leverage is needed, as can often be the case, dont get caught out and damage everything else in the process!

Extra tip, if you do this job on a single pillar type tap, gert hold of an Easytapsplitter, see video on here, some tap headgear can be extremely tight and may cause damage to tap, sink or pipework, and turn this "simple" task into a nightmare. Plumbing can be very unpredictable.

Holding ANYTHING under the tap will NOT stop the tap rotating when undoing the Headgear, always baffles me when people do or say this.
