Interesting channel. I'm a native Filipino (born and currently living in the Philippines) not once have I considered myself to be a Pacific Islander. Its silly! Ask anyone from the Philippines and they'll say they're part of Asia.

Indeed, we truly need to learn our true roots, it isn't pacific islander. Jeeze so much is our identity really tarnished and marred, and yet some of us accept that... I say no, we should regain our true identity!!! Rejoice Kababayan!!!

They will find that filipinos' DNA links to Vietnamese,Southern Chinese, Korean, Indonesians, Thais, and Taiwanese aborigine.Please include these facts in your channel. thank you

I'm only half, (hence the halohalo name), but I play a traditional gong instrument called kulintang from the southern Philippines as well as Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia. I wish more Filipinos (both in but especially those outside of the Philippines.. US for example) would learn how to play this or at least be aware of its existence, as well as those of other indigenous musical instruments, dances, customs, histories, and hence be aware of their Asian identity.. I guess most of those Fil-Am who claim BS like "we're pacific islanders" have never been to the Philippines and other Asian countries...

i hate those unpatriotic filipinos who act like wannabee americans or latinos & they're like idiots. i'm no asian but i lived in phils. all i can say is philippines is a nice country & the people are very warm and they look identical to thais, indonesians & malaysians. the culture actually is very unique coz there are several mixes w/ asian, hispanic & american but is predominantly asian. frankly i never heard filipinos say they're pacific islanders. but if its fil-ams who are saying this p.i. thing, well they need to get more education & learn to accept themselves. while its understandable that many fil-ams don't like to be associated w/ the US narrow definition of asians (meaning chinks, small dicks, small nose, small body, flat chested, effeminate guys, etc.), these people should also realize that philippines is in asia, genetically, ethnically & culturally the same as other asians. btw asia is fast emerging now so they should be proud of it.

I knew Filipinos are Asians because it is evident in the MALAY CULTURE of the Filipinos that connects them to their SE Asian neighbors like Malaysia and Indonesia. Ive never heard of people saying that Filipinos are Pacific Islanders until I came in YouTube. It all started with this ignorant Asian-American kid ranting about Filipinos being Pacific Islanders. The Filipinos in the Philippines doesnt claim to be Pacific Islanders. In fact, the term Pacific Islander doesnt even exist in Tagalog language. I later learned that there are these uneducated Filipino-Americans who have never been in the Philippines and have no idea about Philippine history and culture are the ones who made this bullshit misconception that Filipinos are Pacific Islanders.

I think people need to learn where Philippines lie on the map as well, it's very tiring to hear Fil-Ams thinking they're Pacific Islanders. I am Filipino mixed, Born in Philippines raised here in California. My bf is Filipino born and raised in Cali and all his friends are all Filipinos. Most of them recognize Filipinos as Asians, but some claim they are Pacific Islander. We need more people like you to teach this actual facts! Ingats
