Looking forward to his 'Unsung' episode tomorrow night on TV One. I had such a big crush on him when I was 14. He was still with Raydio at that time.

This song always reminds of theme songs from 70s crime dramas.

He started out not the best of singers, because originally, he was the drummer, saxophonist and a trumpeter for The Commodores. But his voice had gotten really good by the time he recorded this song. Don't get me wrong...he sounded good on The Commodores songs because of his singing technique, ...

Would it be safe to say this was a Parliament/Funkadelic inspired song?

When I was five, on Saturdays, the kids who lived across the street used to open all the windows and the front door to their house, turn their stereo up to full volume, and blast this song. Of course, that was after their mother had gone to work. haha!

This woman should be a lot better known than she is.

She has become one of my favorite singers. She's very versatile in her singing style. I'm glad to be able to like someone who's current, since I listen mostly to oldies.

@HomelessOnline - I don't know. Good question. But it's funny that in the 30 or more years since I've heard of them, the thought of bondage or oppression never entered my mind when I thought of the group.

Two of my childhood crushes, together.

I had a big crush on him in the early 70s, when I was about 8 years old. Now, I can't seem to get enough of watching old footage of him. I'd forgotten how funny he was in those days.

It's sad for me when people who created the music that I've listened to over my lifetime, pass. I don't even know them personally, but I do have memories associated with their songs. So, I know it has to be difficult for those who worked closely with and survived them. It must feel like losing...

A lot of songs with the 80s sound haven't stood the test of time, but I like this one because the melody has a nice flow. The guitar licks are cool too.

I'm so glad this band stuck together. It's probably best that they never became a huge act; that kind of fame always seems to divide groups. Egos start getting in the way.

Believe it or not, that was about the time when they were calling that, "the wet look". It was supposed look like you just stepped out of the shower or a swimming pool. Today it just looks greasy.

@hevyonez97 - What a find! I hope it's in pretty good condition. My sister had my niece buy the LP for her birthday a couple of years ago. It cost her $50 for a new one.

This album is a classic! Great songs!

You really should try the Moisture Retention shampoo (gold label). I think you'll love it. At least, I do.
