About Friends of Lāna'i
Friends of Lāna'i: Friend's of Lāna'i exists to give voice to the many people of Lāna'i who strongly oppose the Oahu industrial wind power plant on Lāna'i.
Friends of Lāna'i (FOL) began in 2009 with a small group of concerned Lāna'i residents who saw Californian David Murdock's announced plan to build a wind farm on Lāna'i as an egregious example of Green Greed. Initially described as an effort to "Make Lana'i Green," it quickly became apparent that it was really a project simply to make David Murdock some "green."
Clearly, none of the electric power to be generated was to return to Lāna'i, only a few of the initial construction jobs could be for Lāna'i residents, and the minuscule number of full-time jobs all led to the easy conclusion that this project was of little value to this small rural island.
