The name "Freelance Vigilante" originates from a role-playing game system I developed when I was a teenager. It was a way to allow my friends to interact with the worlds I had created to house many of my stories.

I've created this channel to house and share the stories that are locked within my mind. It's my own little habitat for creativity. Included will be true, albeit embellished, stories which I've collected along the road. Some are mine while others are retellings of tales which others have given to me.

This channel will also be used to share my world (mostly sci-fi and fantasy) with the world. I'm not sure I have the time to build the reader audience required to have published the works I value most, but through the net, perhaps a small piece of my world will outlive me.

It was in my youth that I fell in love with the notion of the storyteller. I eventually was forced to come to terms with the reality that, as an art form, such people were a dying breed. I re-tuned my heart to the written word, yet it seemed inadequate. I sought publication, but was told that the sorts of things I tended to write were too risky to publish. It's not about originality it's about formula and familiarity.

I was told by one publishing house that I need an audience of my own first, or to adjust my writing to correspond closely to what's already on the market.

So I stopped, in disgust.

Toward the end of the year in 2009 I had a brush with death. It wasn't the notion of my mortality that frightened me. My sudden pressing fear was the reality that when I pass all of the stories rumbling through my head will be lost.
