She was an amazing human being as well. She cared about people deeply. Everyone who knew Frances loved her. She is missed so much.
I met Frances and her husband Jim Benner at the Chautauqua Festival. They were teaching voice there. I had come to study with them. Among the people studying at Chautauqua that summer of 1976 was Renee Fleming. I liked Frances immediately. Later when I sang the Beethoven Ninth with her I discovered just how huge her voice was. She just about blew the roof off the Chautauqua Ampitheatre. Frances and Jim are the finest servants or art that I know.
