Fort Worth LAP-BAND® is a private practice in Fort Worth, Texas specializing in the Adjustable Gastric Banding procedure, the Gastric Sleeve, and the aftercare of the Lap-Band patient. Dr. Adam B. Adam B. Smith, DO, FACOS, has been an Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon for 13 years. In 2002 Dr. Smith started performing Laparoscopic Bariatric surgeries. After seeing the great success of his patients, Dr. Smith chose the LAPBAND® procedure for himself, and in 2004 Dr. Smith opened a private practice dedicated to the treatment of morbid obesity.

Dr. Smith feels he has a special relationship with his bariatric patients as he has walked in their shoes and continues his daily struggle just as they do. He is committed to the total treatment of the LAPBAND patient from preoperative preparation to the final transformation into a healthy, fit band patient.

Dr. Smith does not just focus on the total care of his own band patients but continues to participate in research regarding the optimal care of the LAPBAND patient in collaboration with colleagues both in the practice and at the University of North Texas Health Science Center.

Dr. Smith received his undergraduate education at the University of Oklahoma. His medical degree is from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of Oklahoma State University. Dr. Adam Smith is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. His other professional affiliations include the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, American Osteopathic Association, American Medical Association, Texas Osteopathic Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Tarrant County Medical Society and the Texas Association of Bariatric Surgeons. His practice, Fort Worth LAPBAND has performed close to 2,000 LAPBAND procedures. He is a faculty member for Allergan, the manufacturer of the LAPBAND and Covidian. In this capacity Dr. Smith trains other surgeons to perform the LAPBAND procedure.
