@gwad1961, I can somewhat understand why he didn't want to replace the transom in his boat, I own the exact same boat but with a '74 Merc1500 on it and if you've ever seen the transom up close in one of these boats it requires separating the deck from the hull to replace the transom. It's actually mostly original with the exception of the steering wheel and windshield. The wheel and column I already had off another boat, the windshield is off a 1960's hydroswift that I saw in a field.
