Just a guy and a guitar or 3. Have been strumming for more years than I care to admit and finally learning how to solo...slowwwwly learning. While I can get lost in tunes with my acoustic for hours, am finally learning scales and the basics of soloing/improvising.
My electric soloing efforts are focused around the blues (Gary Moore, SRV, Chuck Berry....) and rock (Pink Floyd, Eagles, Zepplin, etc..). Just loving it! After 35 years of playing, I'm finally beginning to understand this amazing instrument, in large part thanks to an amazing musician who happens to live near by and in smaller part due to YouTube and all of the amazingly inspirational musicians and lessons!
It's never too late...never.
I've learned that I need to learn solos I'm familiar with and I have but learning a particular solo or several of them and all of the relevant scales doesn't mean one can improvise---truly a whole different world.
Getting there, as I suggested, slowly...but absolutely loving the journey!
