The Vital Ground Foundation helps preserve the threatened grizzly bear, other animals, plants, and natural communities through the conservation of habitat and wildlife linkage areas.
About Me:
Along with its partners, Vital Ground in presently involved in the most extensive, large-landscape grizzly bear conservation effort in the world. Through this international effort, we will be working toward reconnecting the six great, now isolated, ecosystems of the northern Rockies region—Northern Continental Divide, Greater Yellowstone, Selkirk, Purcell-Cabinet-Yaak, Selway-Bitterroot, and North Cascades.
Even now grizzly bears are appearing in areas where they haven't been seen for decades, a sure sign that conservation efforts are working ... working because of the strength of connections: between landscapes and wildlife communities; between public and private lands; between conservationists and landowners; between the needs of nature and the spirit of humans ... and between your generosity and the work it allows us to do.

Doug and Lynne,thank you for all that you have done for Bart and his legacy. We are bearkeepers in northern Minnesota,and fully understand of the eyes of the bear. It such an unforgetable feeling when they look into you with those eyes. We work with black bears and boy do they teach you the meaning of many things. Our time with the 3 bears that we work is very precious and we hold them dear to our hearts. Grizzlies are a magnificent bear and like the black bear are missinterpreted. We thank you for your commitment and dedication and mostly your love for bears and wildlife in our world. Hope to come to Montana and see the goodness that you have done in Barts memory.
