CANADIAN DRUMMER
My name is Jeff, I'm 18 and have been playing the drums for 5 years. I've discovered it's my passion, which is why I've decided to do pursue it in my life :)
I play a fairly broad range of music as my musical tastes are...fairly broad... so I could be practicing jazz one second and playing some form of heavy death metal the next, to jamming along to some drum and bass music right after, it's whatever I feel like playing at the time!
My upbringing in drums was very metal and funk based, but most of my drumming influences come from drummers like Danny Carey (I'm a huge Tool fan), Josh Freese, Chris Adler, JoJo Mayer, Tony Royster Jr., and Jason Bowld to just name a few!
I have two bands, one was formed at Connor's Music where I take my drum lessons and it's called Mainline Revealed. We play some classic rock, some new rock, and are usually pretty interested in trying out new things. My second band, Phantom Identity, was formed a few years back without me but upon their drummer leaving the band, they called Connor's asking if they knew any drummers, which was when they were referred to me (being referred to for the first time was pretty cool :)). After that I met up with them, we started practicing and the rest is ongoing history. We plan on recording our ep very soon so we can get ourselves and our Dream Theater-esque sound heard (our sound reminds me of Dream Theater is what I mean by that...)
I plan on saving up for a good quality video recorder soon so I can start throwing up some covers and original songs from my band Phantom Identity so make sure to subscribe and check in now and then!
Along my very short musical career so far I have played in my school's jazz and concert bands every year I could. I have also recently started filling in to teach drum lessons at Connor's Music, I have performed in the pit band for the musical production Seussical, and have recently started filling in as a session drummer for a local cover band. Although short, it's been very fun so far and I'm going to be jumping at every opportunity that presents itself, because music can't really be considered work when it's one of your favourite things on the planet :)
