On the 19th of July 2009 over 1,000 mob dancers were taught to dance Thriller in Amsterdam's Vondelpark. 2 hours later they flashmobbed Museumplein followed by Leidseplein, Keizersgracht and Dam Square. The mob grew in size and the movement took on a life of it's own as they met with onlookers and the city of Amstedam was filled with the sound of dancers dancing over and over again to Thriller in Tribute to Michael Jackson. The movement was created by Isabelle O'Kane and friends and was an answer to Stockholm's call for cities around the world to create flashmobs to honour the spirit of Michael Jackson.
