BTW, the best version of this I have heard or played was with William Boughton. He wanted us to play simply and without emotion. As he put it, not screaming 'I am coming to kill you' but simply as though to say 'I am relentless and I am coming to kill.' It was terrifying!
In real life I am a big city French horn player. I played the Plantets last night and am going to play it again in 6 hrs. After 40 years of doing this I still get wired up and misty eyed when I play great music like this. I get to play the top of the huge chord right at the end, maybe the loudest...
