I am an atheist, although I have not always identified as such.

I had never even heard of God until I was 5 when I was sent to church and sunday school while staying with my aunt over the summer.

The idea of God always seemed odd to me, no more real than Humpty Dumpty or Peter Pan, and so I never really gave much thought to it even though looking back I realize just how much pressure there was on me from friends and people of the community to be indoctrinated into their religion.

It wasn't until I was about 15 that I began to really look at religion and see just how much damage people do in its name. At that point I began to study it, learned about it, and formed my understanding of its workings.

Still it was even later that there was a word to describe my lack of belief: atheism. And that is why I now use this channel to do what I can to foster debate (even if just in video comments) and to help people understand that atheism is not a bad thing.
