Midwest leader of the klezmer revival of the 1980s, Maxwell Street's focus is the early jazz immigant feel found on 1920s recordings. Original recorded tunes include Leah's Saraband and Klezmer Rhapsody for Violin. Touring highlights include Carnegie Hall and Barbican Centre. Have recorded four CDs and Hanukkah recording with Rabbi Joe Black (2008). Maxwell Street--the band--is live and well in Chicago.
