The Jesus Movement Music of the 60s and 70s included a vast range of artists from several countries around the world. The British were pioneers in using contemporary Christian music, starting as early as 1964 with bands like The Joystrings, The Witnesses, The Envoys, The Croosbeats, The Peacemakers, and The Concords. In USA the most known artists were Larry Norman, 2nd Chapter of Acts, Barry McGuire, Phil Keaggy, Randy Stonehill, Honeytree, Love Song, and others.
However, before Larry Norman recorded the album "Upon This Rock" in 1969, there were already CCM artists in USA. Among the first artists were Isabel Baker ("I Like God's Style", 1965), John Ylvisaker ("Cool Livin'", 1967) and the bands Sons of Thunder ("Till The Whole World Knows", 1968), Mind Garage ("Electric Liturgy", 1968), and God Unlimited ("Joy, And Other Sublime Aspirations", 1968).
What I love more about the Christian artists from the 60s and 70s is that they were not interested in commercial success but only in sharing the message of the Gospel through their music.
This channel wants mainly to pay tribute to those many artists that did not get a lot of attention by that time, but they are really good and need an "encore" to be heard again.
Occasionally, I will upload music of more recent artists whose albums are out of print.
