THE FIVE SOLAS OF THE REFORMATION

The five solas articulated five fundamental beliefs of the Protestant Reformation, pillars which the Reformers believed to be essentials of the Christian life and practice.

Sola scriptura (by Scripture alone)
Sola fide ("by faith alone")
Sola gratia ("by grace alone")
Solo Christo ("by Christ alone")
Soli Deo gloria ("glory to God alone")

The Protestant Reformation began on 31 October 1517, in Wittenberg, Saxony, where Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-Five Theses on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences to the door of the Castle Church, in Wittenberg.
